Maori colours

We are learning about Maori colours. We know that gray is kiwikiwi, yellow is kowhai, white is ma, red is whero, pink is mawhero, green is kakariki, black is ponga, brown is paraone, blue is kikorangi and orange is karaka! That is all we know so far! By Daniel & Latai

The Cross Country

Hi, this is Jack and Max. We are going to tell you all about the cross country. First we had to line up. Then we heard...
"On your marks..."
"Get set..."
"GO!!!"
Max went zoom but I walked at first.
Everyone did really well and we all had fun!

Fractions

We have been learning about fractions. We know that the bigger the denominator (the number on the bottom) gets the smaller the pieces get. We have used play-dough, magnetic pizzas and fraction circles to learn about fractions.

Yesterday we split in groups and our challenge was to feed the animals in our zoos. We had to think about problems like how many blocks of food each animal gets so if elephants eat half a block of hay. How many blocks do we need for 5 elephants? It was fun. We were thinking about the numerator (number at the top).

Mask Parade

In Term Four, Room One is doing the Mask parade. We looked at Leslie's mask designs and we learned that we always have to plan. We practised by curling, cutting, gluing and making shapes out of white paper. Miss Hough trusted us to use craft knifes but we had to use newspaper underneath. We used the shapes and the curls that we make earlier to help us create our white 3D masks.

Letters to Mr. King-Smith

We are writing letter's to Mr.King-Smith because we are learning about him and his books. We know that he lives in England and on a farm. First we wrote them in our writing book's. Then we published our letter's. After that we made a border and pictures. We are going to send them on Friday the 7th of August.
